Toyota faces lawsuit over alleged use of emission defeat devices

Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. is facing a class-action lawsuit in Australia over alleged use of "defeat devices" to hide vehicle emissions and evade Australian standards and could have to pay up to $1 billion Australian ($620 million) if the allegations are proven, Tasmania Talks reported. The case could cover up to 500,000 Australian car owners who have purchased Toyota vehicles since February 2016.
