Weather-related property damage insurance claims grow 34% in six months

Insurance claims for weather-related property damage in New Zealand have increased 34% in the past six months and are expected to increase further in coming years as natural disasters become more frequent and severe, Stuff.co.nz reported. Insurance Australia Group Ltd.’s insurance subsidiaries recorded more than 13,000 weather-related claims in the past six months, with insurance claims from the recent severe floods in Nelson city alone exceeding $20 million New Zealand ($11 million).
