Strike

A strike over wages launched by workers at South African ports and freight rail operator Transnet SOC Ltd. on Oct. 6 is likely to affect exports of bulk commodities like coal and iron ore, MoneyWeb reported citing Bloomberg. The strike could complicate the situation for South Africa’s mining industry which has already lost 50 billion South African rand ($2.8 billion) worth of business opportunities this year due to Transnet’s logistics constraints, according to mining industry organization Minerals Council’s CEO Roger Baxter.
