County creates panel to explore shifting to self-insured plan

Isabella County, Michigan, officials have formed a committee to study whether the county should move to self-funded health insurance, The Morning Sun reports. County administrator Nicole Frost estimated the county would save $1 million by moving to self-funded insurance from the county’s current health plan, provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
