Generic medicine supply at risk as high energy costs threaten production

Europe’s generic drug industry group, Medicines for Europe, has warned that drugmakers may have to stop production of some cheap generic medicines amid surging energy costs that has forced the sector to consolidate, Reuters reported. The consolidation of the generic medicine market under mounting price pressure is also increasing the risk of medicine supply shortages.
