Fidelis to stop underwriting fossil fuels, Arctic oil and gas projects

Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer Fidelis Insurance Holdings Ltd. has decided to stop insuring fossil fuel projects as part of its newly extended underwriting guidelines around sustainability, Reinsurance News reported. Fidelis will not directly insure thermal coal mines, power plants, infrastructure, tar sands extraction, fracking operations, including shale oil and natural gas, and Arctic oil and gas exploration and drilling.
