Chuck Watson of disaster modeling firm Enki Research expects Hurricane Fiona to inflict around $4 billion worth of damage in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic, as the strong hurricane threatens the Caribbean islands with catastrophic floods and mudslides, UK Time News reported. Fiona is the sixth storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season and the first to cause major damage. While the preseason forecasts called for an active season, the few storms that have formed so far have been either weak or too far out in the Atlantic to cause permanent destruction.
