Anthem loses legal challenge over exclusion from Kentucky Medicaid

Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield has lost a legal fight over who gets to share in managing $10.7 billion worth of Kentucky’s Medicaid business, reports the Louisville Carrier-Journal. A three-judge panel of the state Court of Appeals has upheld the state's 2020 selection of five companies to manage care for nearly 1.6 million low-income and disabled Kentuckians. As a result, those five health insurance companies will retain contracts with the state while Anthem will be excluded.
