New York feels the heat
Posted On: Aug. 11, 2022 1:04 PM CSTRisk managers and building owners are alert to the risks of snow and ice-laden roofs in winter, but summer can have its perils, too.
The New York City Department of Buildings recently discovered a 480-square-foot pool holding 60 tons of water on top of the roof of an occupied building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, according to ABC 7 New York.
The pool wasn’t built to code and had to be removed.
“Please don’t try to build a rooftop swimming pool without first getting permits and hiring professionals to do the job properly,” the Department of Buildings tweeted.
