The Federal Court of Australia recently ruled that automotive services firm Inchcape Australia Ltd. cannot claim costs incurred in the clean-up and recovery from ransomware attack from its insurer Chubb Insurance Australia Ltd. under its ransomware insurance policy, IT News reported. The court said that the policy only covers “direct financial loss,” so any indirect or consequential losses from the ransomware attack are not claimable under the policy.
