Everest announces property leadership reshuffle

Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Everest Re Group Ltd., on Thursday said Erik Nikodem, president of global property, will retire in mid-July and appointed three executives to take over his responsibilities.

Chris Curtin, previously head of wholesale property, has been named senior vice president and head of U.S. property. Mr. Curtin, based in Boston, will report to Mike Karmilowicz, president and CEO.

Patrick Hagerty, previously vice president in the corporate underwriting department, has been appointed vice president, division underwriting officer for U.S. property. Mr. Hagerty, based in New York, will report to Mr. Curtin.

Maria Grace, head of international property, has been appointed chief underwriting officer of global property. Ms. Grace, based in London, will report to Mike Mulray, Everest’s chief operating and underwriting officer.

As head of U.S. property, Mr. Curtin, who joined Everest in 2016, will be responsible for driving growth across the company’s U.S. property business and will oversee its property underwriting strategy.

Mr. Hagerty, who joined Everest from American International Group Inc. last year, will focus on delivering underwriting profitability across all U.S. property business units. He will also serve as a member of the global property leadership team.

Mr. Nikodem joined Everest from AIG in 2016 to head up its newly formed U.S. property division. He was named global head of property in 2020.
