Insurance claims for jets stuck in Russia could exceed 9/11 claims level

U.K.-based insurance broker Willis Towers Watson PLC said that insurance claims from airplanes stranded in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine could exceed claims stemming from the 9/11 attacks in the U.S., Reinsurance News reported. Meanwhile, aviation insurance rate increases continue to decelerate as more underwriters enter the segment to capitalize on the inflated premium base, adding more capacity that is likely to bring down rates slightly this year, Willis said.
