Willis names former Sompo exec to real estate and hospitality post

Willis Towers Watson PLC said Wednesday it has hired James Martuscelli, formerly with Sompo International Holdings Ltd., as head of the real estate and hospitality industry practice for corporate risk and broking, North America.

He fills a position left vacant when several Willis executives departed the company to join McGriff, a subsidiary of Truist Insurance Holdings Inc., in 2020.

Mr. Martuscelli, based in New York, will report to Tom Coughlin, head of industry and specialty for commercial risk and broking, North America.

Mr. Martuscelli previously served as chief industry vertical officer-real estate and hospitality at Sompo.  Prior to that he was real estate casualty practice leader at Chubb Ltd.

Willis recently announced that Michael Chang, also formerly with Sompo, will join the brokerage later this year as head of corporate risk and broking for North America
