Nearly 90% utility firms hit by cyber attacks

A survey by Japan-based cybersecurity firm Trend Micro Inc. found that 89% of electricity, oil and gas, and manufacturing companies suffered cyber attacks that affected production and energy supply in the past 12 months, IT Brief reported. The average financial damage to the companies, suffering a cyber attack on their operational technology and industrial control systems, reached approximately $2.8 million, with oil and gas companies suffering the most.
