Generali increases stake in Cattolica to 91.5%

Italian insurer Assicurazioni Generali SpA has acquired and additional 6.8% stake in local rival Societa Cattolica di Assicurazione SpA’s for almost €105.4 million ($111.3 million), raising its stake in Cattolica to around 91.5%, Verdict reported. In 2021, Generali offered to buy Cattolica for €1.17 billion, with the transaction expected to strengthen Generali’s foothold in the Italian insurance market.
