Brookfield Reinsurance sees massive jump in net income

Brookfield Asset Management Inc.'s Brookfield Reinsurance unit’s net income surged to $128 million in the first quarter of the year, from $3 million posted in the year-ago comparable period, Reinsurance News reported. The performance was mainly driven by more than $180 million worth of premiums generated by its reinsurance treaties, and its seven pension risk transfer transactions.
