Allianz hires financial lines leader from Berkshire

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE announced Friday that former Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. executive Vanessa Maxwell will join the insurer in June as global head of financial lines.

London-based Ms. Maxwell will succeed Shanil Williams, who in January was named to the Allianz SE unit’s board of management as chief underwriting officer corporate.

Ms. Maxwell previously headed BHSI’s executive and professional lines in the United Kingdom and was named country manager for the U.K. last year.

Ms. Maxwell, who will report to Ms. Williams, was named one of the Business Insurance Women to Watch in 2019.
