International brokerages probed for bribery and corruption

The Serious Fraud Office in the U.K. is probing Jardine Lloyd Thompson UK Ltd. and Tysers Insurance Brokers Ltd. for bribery and corruption when securing business in South America, Bloomberg Quint reports. The investigation is linked to a U.S. Department of Justice probe into corruption at Ecuador's state insurer Seguros Sucre S.A. The insurer’s former chairman amd an ex-employee at Jardine Lloyd Thompson earlier pleaded guilty to money laundering charges.
