Markd VC LLC, a Boulder, Colorado-based venture capital firm devoted to the insurtech sector, said Thursday it has closed its $100 million debut fund.
The $100 million will be used to fund early- and growth-stage startups focused on the digital transformation of the insurance industry, the statement said Thursday.
Anchor investors in the fund include Markd Founder and Managing Partner Parker Beauchamp and an undisclosed industry partner.
Flume Health Inc., a health plan administrator for self-insured employers, raised $30 million in Series A funding led by Optum Ventures, bringing its valuation to roughly $100 million, Axios reports. Employers are the main customers for digital health firms, and newer entrants like New York-based startup Flume help companies build health plans catered to their member needs, the report says.
