Legislation headed to Washington Gov. Jay Insleeā€™s desk would improve fire fighter and law enforcement officer retirement benefits, KIMA TV reports. Senate Bill 5791 focuses on fire fighters and police officers who entered the service between 1969 and October 1977. The bill, which passed unanimously in both houses, would give retirees a check of $100 per month of service, and a minimum of $20,000 for those gravely injured or disabled in the line of duty.
