Aon

Aon PLC is investigating a cyberattack on “a limited number” of its systems, the brokerage disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.

Aon identified a “cyber incident” on Friday and brought on third-party advisers, incident response experts and legal counsel to address the issue, the filing states.

“The incident has not had a significant impact on the company’s operations,” the statement said.

“Based on the information currently known, the company does not expect the incident to have a material impact on its business, operations or financial condition,” Aon said.

Several large insurance organizations have been hit by cyberattacks over the past two years. In September 2020, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. was hit by a ransomware attack; in March 2021, CNA Financial Corp. suffered a ransomware attack; in July 2021, Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. disclosed it had been hit by a data breach in April; and in August 2021, Ryan Specialty Group Inc. revealed that its email system was breached in April.
