BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The number of COVID-19 claims in Florida fell by about 25% in January compared with December, according to a report released Friday by the state’s Division of Workers’ Compensation.

The DWC reports 3,567 claims in January, down from 4,673 in December. While down compared with the previous month, COVID-19 claims accounted for one in every three indemnity claims filed in January.

The 29,848 COVID-19 claims filed in 2021 accounted for 28.4% of all indemnity claims.

The DWC reported total paid costs of $177.8 million on the 68,198 COVID-19 claims filed since the pandemic started.

The division also said 32,543 claims were denied in whole or in part.
