Integrated virtual care saves money, reduces ER visits: CIGNA

Integrating virtual care can save the health care system significant amounts of money, as well as avoid unnecessary visits to the emergency department or urgent care center, according to a new study from Cigna Corp., reports Fierce Healthcare. The study, conducted in conjunction with Cigna’s telemedicine subsidiary MDLive, found that patients who saw virtual providers had 19% fewer visits to emergency room or urgent care.
