Tonga volcano eruption forces airlines to cancel flights

Several airlines, including Fiji Airways and Virgin Australia, have cancelled flights to Tonga and Fiji as ash cloud grows after the massive eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano on Jan. 15, News.com.au reported citing AFP. A state of emergency has been imposed in Tonga after the volcanic eruption that triggered tsunami waves across the Pacific Ocean and has downed all the communication in Tonga. New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the capital of Tonga, Nuku’alofa, suffered “significant” damage.
