Former Hartford exec to become Axis Insurance CEO

Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. said Wednesday that former Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. executive Vincent C. Tizzio has joined the company as senior advisor, insurance market strategy, and will become the CEO of Axis Insurance on June 1, 2022.
He will succeed Peter Wilson as CEO of the insurance segment.
Mr. Wilson will continue with Axis on a consultative basis through Dec. 31, 2022, the Pembroke, Bermuda-based
insurer and reinsurer said in a statement.
Mr. Tizzio reports to Axis Capital Holdings President and CEO Albert Benchimol and is part of the company’s executive committee.
As senior advisor, insurance market strategy, Mr. Tizzio will serve as a strategic counselor to Mr. Benchimol and will not have direct reports or profit and loss responsibility for the insurance segment until he transitions to the CEO role, the statement said.
Mr. Tizzio was most recently executive vice president and head of global specialty at Hartford. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of U.S.-based Navigators Management Co.
