Alera Group buys six agencies

Alera Group Inc. said Wednesday it has acquired six agencies,  strengthening its expertise across property/casualty insurance and employee benefits.

Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

The six agencies are: Santa Ana, California-based Ashbrook-Clevidence Inc.; Benefit Design Specialists Inc., based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Erich Courant & Co., based in Maywood, New Jersey; Ocean City, New Jersey-based Heist Insurance Agency; Simkiss & Block, based in Berwyn, Pennsylvania; and The D.B.L. Center Ltd., based in Melville, New York.

The staffs at all six agencies will continue in their existing roles and work collaboratively across Alera Group’s 120 locations, the Deerfield, Illinois-based brokerage said.

Alera Group is the 17th largest brokerage of U.S. business, according to the latest Business Insurance ranking, with 2020 revenue of $554 million. The brokerage has more than 3,000 employees.
