SCOTUS ruling in Northwestern case to impact dozens of 401(k) fee lawsuits

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Dec. 6 in a lawsuit that contends that Northwestern University violated its duty under ERISA by allowing two 403(b) retirement plans to charge participants excessive investment and recordkeeping fees, Benefits Pro reports. The case could have broad implications since dozens of similar lawsuits have been filed across the country alleging excessive fees in retirement plans are a breach of fiduciary duty.
