Insurers’ capital surplus almost at pre-pandemic levels

Data from S&P Global Ratings Inc. showed that capital surplus of insurers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region has mostly recovered and is now at 92% of its pre-COVID-19 level, Reinsurance News reported. Nonlife insurers in the EMEA region are expected to enjoy robust insurance margins, although inflation may increase property and casualty claims costs.
