Reinsurance capacity to hit record despite headwinds

A report by Aon PLC said that total reinsurance capacity is set to hit a record this year despite challenges such as ongoing COVID-19 related litigation, high frequency of property catastrophes, and increased volatility and inflationary pressures, Reinsurance News reported. More than $25 billion was raised in new reinsurance and retro capacity in 2020-2021, with near record insurance-linked securities issuance of $8.5 billion in the first half of this year.
