Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. said Thursday that John Doyle, head of its brokerage unit, would take on a senior group executive role at the parent company and named Martin South and Dean Kilsura as heads of operating units.

Mr. Doyle, who was previously president and CEO of Marsh LLC, its main brokerage unit, will be group president and chief operating officer of Marsh McLennan and will continue as vice chair of the company, a Marsh McLennan statement said. He joined Marsh McLennan in 2016, after a long career at American International Group Inc., as president of Marsh and was later named CEO of the unit.

Mr. South, who was previously president of Marsh US and Canada, will succeed Mr. Doyle as president and CEO of Marsh and will be a vice chair of the parent company. Mr. South rejoined Marsh in London in 2006 after a spell at Zurich Insurance Ltd. Pat Donnelly, head of Marsh Specialty for Marsh US and Canada, will succeed Mr. South as president of Marsh US and Canada.

Mr. Kilsura, who was previously president of Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, will have the additional role of CEO of the reinsurance brokerage unit and was also named a vice chair of the parent. Mr. Kilsura was with Marsh for more than 30 years before joining Guy Carpenter last year. He succeeds Peter Hearn, who will continue as vice chair of Marsh McLennan “focusing on sales and colleague development initiatives,” the statement said.

In addition, Marsh McLennan said Dominic Burke, formerly CEO of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC, which Marsh McLennan bought in 2019, will retire in January.

Mr. South and Mr. Kilsura will report to Mr. Doyle, and Mr. Doyle and Mr. Hearn will report to Dan Glaser, president and CEO of Marsh McLennan, the statement said.
