Health plans warn lawmakers of costs of proposed mandates

Calls from Massachusetts lawmakers and advocates this week to require health insurers to cover health care services from fertility preservation to medical marijuana ran into opposition from the insurance industry, reports the Gloucester Times. The Massachusetts Association of Health Plans said that the scope of mandates in the legislation before the committee would add between $17 million and $20 million a year to the cost of health care in Massachusetts.
