Moldova has declared a state of alert in the energy sector due to a supply shortage of natural gas and the lack of a new contract with Russia-based Gazprom PJSC, SeeNews reported. Deputy prime minister Andrei Spinu said the country wishes to negotiate gas supplies from Romania and Ukraine, and hopes to sign a new contract with Gazprom by the end of this month. Moldova has no gas deposits of its own.
