CMS warns employers cannot deny benefits to unvaccinated

Employer group health plans cannot deny benefits to members who have not gotten the COVID-19 vaccine but can offer premium discounts to enrollees who are vaccinated, according to new guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, reports Fierce Healthcare. Plans that increase premiums on the unvaccinated will have that increased cost count toward calculations on whether that coverage meets affordability ratios under the Affordable Care Act.
