U.S.-based consulting firm AlixPartners LLP predicts $210 billion in revenue losses for global automakers this year due to supply-chain disruptions, The Hindu reported citing Reuters. AlixPartners estimates an output loss of 7.7 million vehicles this year, mainly attributed to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage, tight supplies of materials such as steel and plastic resin and resulting commodity price hikes.
