Texas disability benefits to increase 5.1%

The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation announced it will increase maximum temporary income benefits by 5.1%, effective Oct. 1.

The maximum temporary total disability benefit is set at 100% of the state’s average weekly wage. Last year, the average weekly wage increased to $1,058.38 from $1,006.71.

Lifetime income benefits and death benefits are also set at 100% of the state’s average weekly wage and will increase to $1,058.

Other benefits will also increase by the same 5.1%, including the minimum temporary income benefit, maximum and minimum impairment income benefits and the maximum supplemental income benefit.
