Port closures due to Typhoon Chanthu threaten $14 billion trade

Analysts at U.K.-based risk management firm Russell Group Ltd. estimate $14 billion in trade losses after the Chinese ports in Shanghai and Ningbo closed on Sept. 12 for two weeks due to Typhoon Chanthu, Commercial Risk reported. The analysts expect supply disruptions worth $361 million worth of computer equipment and $331 million worth of clothing from Shanghai alone that could affect the availability of goods ahead of the holiday season.
