Spain’s Canary Island under yellow alert for volcanic eruption

Regional government of Spain’s Canary Island of La Palma sounded a yellow alert on Sept. 14 for a probable volcanic eruption in upcoming days after recording a sudden increase in seismic activity in the region, Reuters reported. The alert – the second of a four-level alert system – was sounded after Spain's National Geographic Institute recorded 4,222 tremors near the Teneguia volcano.
