July sees worst ever ILS fund returns due to European floods

According to Eurekahedge ILS Advisers Index, the European floods in July dragged down the average return of insurance-linked securities funds to 0.20% − the worst ever average ILS fund return for the month recorded by the index, Artemis reported. The average return was much below the ILS fund’s long-term average return of 0.59% for July, with the funds focused on private ILS and collateralized reinsurance contracts bearing significant losses from the European floods.
