Ascot Group Ltd. said Tuesday it was consolidating its reinsurance activities under Ascot Reinsurance.
Ascot Re will encompass all existing reinsurance products across Ascot’s global operations, and coverage will continue to be provided through existing Ascot operating companies including Syndicate 1414 at Lloyd’s of London, Ascot Bermuda Ltd., and various U.S. statutory companies.
Ascot Re will be led by Mark Pepper, group chief underwriting officer, with executive oversight from Andrew Brooks, group CEO, and Jonathan Zaffino, group president.
Rory Cline will be president of Ascot Re U.S., providing coverage in the U.S. including property, led by Libby Ismail; casualty under Tony Kashuba; and professional liability, under Steve Robinson.
Lloyd’s Syndicate 1414 will provide property/casualty treaty underwriting led by Amanda Jeffrey and John Pilkington, respectively. Bermuda CEO Ian Thompson runs treaty operations in the property/casualty and specialty lines led by Simon Kimberley and Justin Keith.
Mr. Zaffino said in the Tuesday statement the new alignment of Ascot’s global reinsurance capabilities is in response to increased client demands.
Jonathan Zaffino, former head of Everest Re Group Ltd.’s insurance operations, will join Ascot Group Ltd. as group president, the Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer announced Monday.
