Court upholds Baltimore right to raise retirement age for first responders

A decision by the Maryland Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, upholds changes to the city’s pension plan that require first responders to serve an additional five years before being eligible for retirement benefits, reports the Baltimore Sun. The justices agreed with lower court rulings that the city had a right to change pension rules for those who had not yet qualified to retire.
