Nat cat claims trigger Generali’s reinsurance arrangements

Italian insurer Assicurazioni Generali SpA said that it has tapped into its reinsurance arrangements to pay natural catastrophe claims it received in the first half of the year, Artemis reported. Generali’s net natural catastrophe claims jumped 85% year-on-year to €218 million ($259 million) in the first half, mainly due to Storm Filomena in Spain and June’s convective weather and floods in central Europe.
