Everest Re’s reinsurance premiums climb 40%

Bermuda-based reinsurer Everest Re Group Ltd.’s overall gross written premiums increased 35% in the second quarter, with the reinsurance side reporting a nearly 40% jump, driven by increased global demand for reinsurance, Artemis reported. Catastrophe losses of $45 million were three times higher than the previous year figure of $15 million.
