Costa Rica declares national emergency after severe floods

The Costa Rican government declared a state of national emergency on July 27 after torrential rainfall and floods caused significant infrastructure damage over the weekend, The Tico Times reported. The flooding and landslides caused substantial damage in 14 cantons, including San Carlos, Upala, Guatuso, and Sarapiqui.
