COVID-19 lockdowns threaten supply chains of Nike, Ikea

Lockdowns in Vietnam due to a surge in COVID-19 infections threaten to disrupt supply chains of multinational firms such as Nike and Ikea, as their suppliers are forced to either host employees on site or suspend production, VN Express reported citing Nikkei Asia. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has halted production at three of its plants in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, while Ching Feng Home Fashions Co. Ltd., which produces curtains for Ikea and Walmart, has halted production at its Vietnamese factory until Aug. 2.
