A Milwaukee metal fabricating facility has been fined more than $200,000 for failing to address harmful machine and noise hazards, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced Tuesday.

Tramont Manufacturing LLC, which manufacturers fuel tanks and power system enclosures, was accused by OSHA of “ignoring hazards” identified during two 2020 OSHA inspections that included citations for unguarded machines, noise and face and eye hazards, the agency said.

In a 2021 follow-up inspection after Tramont failed to provide OSHA with information on how it abated earlier identified hazards, an investigator cited the company for four repeated, nine serious and three other-than-serious safety violations with proposed penalties of $216,000.

The company has 15 business days to contest the findings.

In 2014, Tramont was acquired out receivership by UCA Group in Elgin, Illinois. Tramont’s chief operating officer, Vijay Raichura, said the company is “working hard to change the culture” at Tramont and is working closely with OSHA to correct any violations.
