Carbon removal industry needs support from insurers

A report by Swiss Re Institute said that a carbon removal industry equivalent to the size of oil and gas industry is required to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and reach the Paris Agreement’s climate change goals of net zero emission by 2050, Reinsurance News reported. The report says that the insurance sector can improve the economic viability of carbon removal efforts by providing capital and also insurance capacity, risk management and risk transfer solutions.
