European storms may cause over $3 billion insured loss

Actuaries from German actuarial firm Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss expect more than €2.5 billion ($3 billion) in insured property losses from the recent series of storms Volker, Wolfgang and Xero that hit Western and Central Europe, Artemis reported. Hailstorms, heavy rains and tornadoes caused significant damage in parts of France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and elsewhere in Europe between June 21 and July 1.
