MS&AD becomes first Japanese insurer to drop coal cover

MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc. has become the first Japanese insurer to stop underwriting or investing in new coal power projects, Better Society Network reported. MS&AD’s decision comes after similar announcements made by four South Korean insurers and marks that the Asian insurers are now actively embracing coal exit initiatives.
