Hartford promotes commercial business executive

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. said Monday it has promoted Gretchen Thompson to head of construction, inland marine, excess solutions and complex liability solutions within the company’s middle and large commercial business unit.

She is based in Brea, California, and will report to A. Morris “Mo” Tooker, head of middle and large commercial insurance, the statement said Monday.

Ms. Thompson, who was named to the Business Insurance Women to Watch list in 2016, was most recently head of The Hartford’s Western division based in California.

She succeeds Adrien Robinson, who was appointed head of global specialty.
