Peugeot, Citroen charged with diesel emissions fraud

French investigators have charged Dutch automaker Stellantis NV’s subsidiaries Peugeot SA and Automobiles Citroen for their alleged involvement in the dieselgate scandal and have ordered them to pay €18 million ($22 million) in bail, Bloomberg Quint reported. Citroen and Peugeot are accused of consumer fraud in connection with the sale of Euro 5 diesel vehicles in France between 2009 and 2015. Carmakers are being investigated as part of a larger probe into the alleged use of cheating devices during diesel emission tests.
